Whoa, I can feel my quads, hamstrings and triceps today. That Stroller Strides class worked me out! It’s such a great feeling. I hope I can exercise at least once a week. That would be a good thing for me.
Last night, Joshua woke up at 4 am. Half-asleep, as I looked at my the cute little chubby arms of my little boy, I realized that he is still very much a baby, even though he has grown so much over the past 3 months. Then I realized that he is a little part of Chad and me...he is a little of both of us in one separate human being...that we MADE him with God’s blessings...and that amazed me all over again.
My muscles are getting more sore as the day goes on. In fact, I thought I had a plugged duct...but I really didn’t. It was my pecs! Haha!

Joshua laughed at Chad today. Chad made him laugh quite a few times actually. Chad’s expression when he heard Joshua laugh was one of pure amazement and thrill. He was so excited. It was very cute to see them together.
I went to my first Stroller Strides class this morning since being pregnant, so it was at least 6 or 7 months since my last class. Yikes! It was great to see the girls and to get moving again. It was a great workout as always.
Afterwards, we all went to the pool. It was such a gorgeous day. Chad & Noah played in the water while I fed Joshua. Chad tried to do the exercises that Noah learned at his swim classes last year. We couldn’t remember everything. Dang, we’re getting old. ;) Chad dunked Noah a bunch of times. Noah swallowed some water a couple times and came up coughing. But, he soon remembered to hold his breath under water. It was a fun time in the pool for both of them.
Noah is so good about holding your “finger” (vs. hand) while he walks with you. It’s so cute to see. He also wanted to hold onto the stroller as we walked back to the car. It would be great if we could teach him how to hold on the stroller as a safety thing.

I bought a bunch of instant oatmeal packs last night to eat for breakfast. It’s supposed to help with milk production. I didn’t notice any change during my first pumping session. Hopefully, it will get better after a few days. I’m thinking of taking fenugreek again, too. I didn’t notice a huge difference when I took it with Noah. But I was able to nurse him for 6 months. I was hoping to nurse Joshua for at least that long, too (or until he got his first tooth)! The lactation consultant at the hospital said that usually the second time around is more successful as far as production goes, too. Hmmm...still waiting and hoping to see that.
Joshua is 3 months old today! I came home and was singing the “Patty Cake” song and he giggled for the first time! Chad was there to witness it, too. It was so cute!Comments:Add a comment:

I "dream fed" Joshua last night. It didn’t work - he didn't sleep through the night. I forgot we were doing that with Noah and he was sleeping through the night at this point. I know, I know, every baby is different. But, dang, why isn’t he sleeping yet? On one hand, it’s good that he’s waking up because that means he nurses which means I’m getting more stimulation to make more milk. I need it, too, because I’ve noticed my supply dipping during my pumping sessions at work. That always worries me. I had to pump 4 times today to have enough milk for Joshua to eat during the following day. Up until recently, I was pumping just 3 times and even had extra milk to freeze.
We took a long-overdue 18-mo. picture of Noah on the Nemo pillow today, and Joshua’s 3-mo. picture a day early. As soon as we put the pillow on the floor, Noah fell on top of it as Chad does all the time. We laughed ‘cause it was so cute. We got both boys’ individual pictures then Chad put both boys on the pillow. We got a couple cute pics with Noah with his arm around Joshua.

Joshua slept all night! WOO HOO!!! :) 8 hours of sleep for us. It felt great!
I went to the gym for the first time in months. It was a step class and the instructor remembered me from when I was preggo. That was nice. When I got home, I tag-teamed Chad who went for a run. Then, we tag-teamed again and I went to Ohana practice. Too bad I didn’t know they cancelled practice. Oh well. I got a little errand done and came home.
We went to church, dropped Noah off at the nursery (his first time in the “walkers” room) and brought Joshua with us to the Ohana service. We got a warm reception from all the girls. It was great to see everyone and I feel like I’m slowly getting back to life.Comments:Add a comment:

Joshua slept for almost 7 hours last night! The bummer thing is that I woke up at the 6 hour mark ‘cause I’m so used to waking up after that many hours of sleep. He started crying just as I was getting ready to leave for work and Chad was still sleeping. So I put Joshua in his swing downstairs. Chad said he had to wake him up for the 8:30 am bottle, so that means he went without food for 9-1/2 hours. That’s the longest stretch ever! I hope this is the start of many looong nights of sleep for all of us!

Joshua got his first hair cut today. He’s been losing a lot of it from moving his head side to side. Noah used to do the same thing. So, Chad sent me a pic on my cell of the Bumbo seat with his new clippers and some hair on the seat with the words “Guess what?” Yep. Chad loves cutting our boys’ hair. I lost count of how many times Noah has gotten a hair cut. Chad just can’t stand when it looks thin or when a few hairs start growing over their ears.
Joshua is now in Size 2 diapers and has grown out of his 3 mo. clothes. I can’t believe I’m putting away clothes for Joshua already. I miss my newborn. It’s so sad because he’s so big now and I honestly can’t remember him being tiny and new. I’m sad because I was just sooooo exhausted and battling some baby blues, too, to enjoy the first 2 months. :( That’s what I get for wishing that it was already 5 years into the future – an awful selfish wish by a sleep-deprived mom. It’s like what happens to Adam Sandler in “Click” when he finds himself an old man and his whole life has passed him by. That’s my punishment for wanting to skip some of the funnest years of my boys’ lives.
Comments:traci: Somehow that bag of stuff I gave you wound up back in my car! Silly Chadwyn! ;-) Don't let me forget to give it to you again on Weds, I have a TON of size 2 dipes for ya!Add a comment:

We went to Souplantation for the first time since having Joshua. It was our first time going someplace with both boys that wasn’t a full service. So we had to think a bit on what to do first, who watches who when getting our food, and the general order of things with both boys to watch. Parenting definitely works your logic and organizational skills.
I love that Noah has learned hold onto to someone’s hand while he walks. He was holding his Daddy’s hand as we were walking out of the restaurant and it is the sweetest thing to see. I really need to get of a pic of that before Noah gets any bigger. It’s another one of those images that will be forever ingrained in my mind. It’s so cute.

What not to get for Noah? Wasabe. Nope, he doesn’t like it much...
Chad surprised me at work today for Valentine’s Day. I thought he was just picking me up from work to go to lunch. But as I was getting ready to meet him, my mom stopped by my desk to ask if I had lunch plans, then I see Noah walking toward me at my desk at work, wearing his Valentine red and holding out a red rose for me! Oh my goodness, it was the cutest thing EVER! I wish I knew my boys were coming. I would’ve loved to have my camera ready so that I could’ve taken a picture of Noah and shown everyone how stinking cute he was toddling down the hall toward me and giving me that rose. That image will be ingrained in my mind forever though. He was absolutely perfect. Next, I see Chad pushing Joshua in our huge double-stroller that he had decorated with more roses and a bunch of balloons. It was so cute! Chad & Joshua were wearing matching red Aloha shirts. Noah outgrew that shirt a looong time ago, so Chad dressed him in a red jacket instead. My Dad was also there to see my surprise - yeah, right. He was there to see his grandsons! Chad also had the boys write me love letters. He is too cute and soooo sweet!
So, getting back to Noah and his first taste of wasabe... After my surprise at work, we all went to lunch at Benihana. Noah was sitting between Mama & Chad. We all got our food - the lunch special “boat” with tempura, teriyaki, sushi with of course wasabe. We were all hungry and couldn’t wait to dig in, including Noah. Well, the next thing I hear is Chad saying “Was that wasabe? Was that wasabe?” Noah answered with a loud scream. :( Yep, it was wasabe. Noah is really fast. We know this, but never seem to remember until it’s too late. We’ve had more than our share of spilled glasses. Anyway, as soon as the food hit the table, Noah apparently grabbed the marble-sized green blob off of Mama’s “boat” thinking it was food and popped the whole thing in his mouth. He screamed and we panicked. Noah had opened his mouth so big during one scream that I was able to scrape a good portion of it out with a napkin. Then Chad finally pulled Noah out of the high chair and rushed him to the restroom to rinse his mouth. Poor little guy. We all felt sooo bad. When they got back to the table, Noah was pretty much back to normal. Amazing really. We thought about it afterwards and all agreed that he didn’t really cry as hard as WE would’ve cried if we had eaten that big piece of wasabe. So, will Noah be scarred for life now, or has this experience increased his tolerance/love for spicy hot food? Time will tell.

Noah had his 18-mo. appt today. It was my very first time on my own going out with both boys. It took some figuring out what to do, making sure each was fed before we left, double-checking that the diaper bag was filled with both sizes of diapers & extra clothes, deciding which stroller to bring (the big one for Noah, the smaller one for Joshua’s infant seat to click into, or the big double-stroller to push around both boys). That big double-stroller is BIG and it scares me. I haven’t tried to put it in my car yet. I hope it fits. I opted for the little stroller for Joshua, since I figured I could carry Noah on my hip while pushing Joshua. I thought about carrying Joshua in the front carrier, but nixed that idea when I realized I would need to be fairly free to hold Noah down while he got his shots (and to give him a big hug and lots of kisses afterwards).
Noah is 24 lbs 9 oz and 31-1/4” long. Both are around the 25% percentile. Dr. K says his growth is fine. His head is 48 cm. I keep forgetting to ask where he falls with that measurement. To us, Noah’s head has got to be in the higher percentiles. It’s huge.
So, Noah got 3 shots. Yep, he cried at each of them. When he cried at the first one, I started singing to him to try and distract him. It didn’t work. He kept looking at the guy nurse like “what are you doing to me???!” Noah stopped crying and then cried a couple times more after it was all over...probably from thinking about what had just happened. His memory is obviously getting better. It makes me so sad to put him through that. But I know he’s getting the immunizations he needs to stay healthy.

Noah is 1-1/2 years old today! He loves making the “p” sound. I don’t know what he’s trying to say when he does it, but he’ll giggle whenever you do it back to him. He can do the hand motions to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. So cute!
He’s got some bad diaper rash up the back of his thighs. Everytime it starts clearing up, it flares up again.
Noah can say “Daddy” really well now. It’s so cute to hear. He also says “hi”, “hot” with the ASL sign.
Joshua is FULL of smiles. It’s so cute to see and melts your heart. He makes a lot of eye contact, too, especially during our nursing sessions. I love that. He’s up to 4 oz. of breast milk at each feeding.

Chad & I had a little date night tonight. Mama & Papa came over to watch the boys and we left to go play for a little bit at DCA. We got some yummy drinks at Jamba Juice and then went to “It’s Tough to be a Bug” and then rode “California Screamin’”. Chad really wanted to go on “Soarin’ Over California”, but the line was an hour long and the FastPass return time was too late because we had a party to go to afterwards.
Chad’s fellow firefighter Fernando was celebrating his retirement from the Fire Dept. with a huge dinner party. They had rented out the entire restaurant (Original Mike's) and had hundreds of people there. There was a ton of food, drink and FIVE Rockwell cakes! It was like a wedding! We all had a great time.Comments:Add a comment:

It was my first day back to work. It's a Thursday. So, I have just 2 days of work before getting the weekend off. That is nice. It was tough coming back on a Monday last time (after Noah) because it was sooo busy. Mondays are my busy days and there was so much to do that day. Luckily, I was able to delay my morning deadlines to the afternoon. It was so stressful. This time around, it was just a fun day showing off pictures and saying “hi” to everyone. Experience counts!
The day went by pretty quickly, esp. since I had to pump 3 times during the time I’m away from Joshua. It’s going well and I was able to collect enough for Joshua the next day. Hooray!
Gammie had an easy transition back to work as nanny today, too. She was covering the lag time between me leaving for work at 7 am and Chad coming home from work. So, she worked just a few hours with the boys. It went pretty well. It was Chad’s first time being on his own completely with the boys, too. He calls it “The Boys Club”! He is such an incredible dad. He is so involved and loves to be physical and playful with our sons. He loves giving them everything to experience and doesn’t like to hold anything back. In fact, he’s even thinking about tearing down our back wall and extending our backyard about 13 feet to our property line, so that Noah and Joshua have a bigger play area. I know our boys will thrive with all his love and attention.

It’s my last day of maternity leave. I start work tomorrow. I have mixed feelings. It’s nice getting a break from the boys, but then it’s sad that I have to leave them. They are too cute and it is nice to just be with them all day. Joshua is still not sleeping through the night, so I’m up at least once. At home, I’ll take at least one nap for as long as I can when both boys are sleeping. If I can figure out how to coordinate another nap time, I’ll take a second nap, too. When I go back to work, I won’t have nap time anymore. :(
I’ve been working on the boys’ daily eating/playing/napping schedule for months now. It’s finally done I think. I worked out times so that they don’t have to be fed a the same time, but that most of their nap time overlaps, too, so that Gammie can get some down time during the day.

There’s been quite a bit of rain lately, so Chad suggested we take the boys up to the snow. He thought we should go sooner than later, and asked about Thursday. Well, I reminded him, I go back to WORK on Thursday. :( Oh well. We could have maybe planned to go tomorrow instead, but there was still quite a few things I needed to get done before going back to work.

Chad was supposed to do the HB triathlon today, but it was raining. So, Chad opted out ‘cause he doesn’t like to run in the rain. He’s done it once and said it was miserable.
