Joshua had his 2-mo. appt. today. He got his first set of shots today. Luckily, Chad was home so we all went as a family and I made Chad hold down Joshua while he got stuck. I’ll hold down the boys for shots when I have to, but when I don’t have to, I’ll have someone else do it!

Joshua slept only 3 hours last night. :(
Joshua’s cradle cap is bad and I couldn’t help but pick at it. Chad gets so mad when I do that. Anyway, all the scaly skin was caught up in his hair and Chad happened to be vacuuming at the time. So, he took the vacuum and sucked all the cradle cap away. It was very funny.

Joshua’s slept for 7+ hours again! Two nights in a row! Go, baby, go!
He started cooing today, too, and laughing at Daddy! It’s the sweetest sound ever to hear a baby laugh!

Joshua slept for 7+ hours last night! WOO HOO!!!
Natashia celebrated her 18th birthday with a disco-themed roller skating party. Noah got his first ride around the rink thanks to one of Lani’s friends who’s a professional ice skater. She got scolded for carrying Noah around the rink, oops. Apparently, it’s a safety hazard. Bad mommy that I am didn’t think anything of it.

It’s Joshua’s 2-month birthday today! The cluster feedings didn’t work, but I did get the longest stretch yet between feedings – almost 6 hours.
When I burp Joshua, I’ll sit him sideways on my lap and today I caught him two different times with his head turned, looking at me and SMILING! It was too cute!
Joshua went to his first tea party today while Chad watched Noah at home. Joshua was the only boy at the party. We were celebrating Lani and Natashia’s birthdays and had some really good food at the restaurant.

Noah signed “thank you” and “please” today! He loves the little Elmo crackers, so those helped me when I was trying to teach him those signs. I was so excited to see him learn to quickly!
I’m going to cluster feed Joshua tonight, hoping to get him to finally sleep through the night.

I almost threw away Noah’s pj’s AGAIN this morning! Ugh.
Joshua’s “regular” face is a “sad” face. It’s so heart-breaking to see. He’s so darn cute. Noah had a “frown” face that would just make you laugh ‘cause you wondered what the heck could he be mad about? ;)
Today was my second dentist appt in 1 week. Last week at a cleaning, they found a molar that had some root exposed. So, today I got some bonding done on it. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t realize I was going to have to get numb for it. I hate getting novacaine. That shot hurts. I was gone for a long enough time that I had to pump on the drive back. Sure, it’s daytime and I’m in full sight of whomever. But I’m not worried. It’s definitely NOT something anyone would be interested in seeing, I’m sure. In fact, I’m sure I get a laugh instead, or at least a “what the heck” kinda look. Anyway, on the way back from the dentist again (and whenever I’m on my own), Chad is always so sweet to say “go get pampered, get a pedicure, or whatever”. I didn’t do that, but I did decide to stop by Boudin Bakery for lunch - their butternut squash soup is so good - and get more sourdough bread to take home – like I did last week. Yum! If there’s no time for a massage, that’s my idea of pampering. Good food in the tummy.

Joshua was fussy on the left side today, and not very hungry on the right. He’s been getting up around 3 am every morning. I’ve read about babies getting “stuck” at certain times. I sure hope that Joshua’s not doing that. He seems to be happy being swaddled.
Noah knows the “potty” sign for sure because whenever he does it to me, there’s always a surprise in his diaper for me to clean up. He had the biggest one for me this morning. I had to throw away his pj’s because there was too much mess to even think of cleaning. Yuck!

Sue and the Banisters came over for lunch and just hang out for the day. We exchanged Christmas presents (finally) since we’ve been so busy with Joshua. Noah & Kate had their first kiss! It was a fun day to stay in and just play with friends.
After my shower tonight, milk squirted out for the first time. That’s the weirdest thing! I can’t help but laugh at the things going on with my body.
Joshua has full blown cradle cap now. Poor little guy.Comments:Add a comment:

Joshua had a tough night last night. He was up after 2-1/2 hours, then after 2 hours, then after only 1 hour! I had to rock him for about 15 minutes to settle him. He was howling. I wondered if he was too hot being swaddled in all those layers. When he woke up after just 1 hour, at 3 am, I waited as long as possible, hoping he would self-soothe. But after 20 minutes, I finally went in to settle him.
Noah said “hi” and “hot” today! He does the sign for “hot” when he says it, too!

Noah signed “eat” and “potty” today!
Joshua is getting bald in the back of his head, just like Noah did. My poor bald boys.

Chad watched the boys and I went shopping for a new swing for Joshua. I went to Children’s Orchard and got a pre-owned one for $40. It's aquarium-themed and the buttons are on the top which is good - Noah can't reach them! He LOVED pushing all the buttons on the old one which were on the side and easy for him to reach. He would always play with it and turn on the swing and the music. The little rascal.
Later that afternoon, we all went furniture shopping and looked for a new couch for the TV room. We went to Levitz since they’re going out of business. There was one that Chad really liked, but it wasn’t in very good condition and it was the last one. So, we decided to wait and keep looking.

Joshua had been sleeping for over 6 hours and I decided to wake him up to nurse. I hope I didn’t make a mistake (ie, stop him from potentially sleeping through the night for the first time)! I just got worried that he wouldn’t getting enough to eat otherwise.
I had my “7-week” post-partum check-up today. It was supposed to be at 6 weeks, but my dr. had a surgery to do, so it’s actually been 7 weeks since having Joshua. Dr. Kaminskas said I looked “skinny” – ha! We talked about birth control and I got an rx for the “minipill” that’s safe to take while nursing. We need to keep using a back-up method for another month though. Ugh, I hate those gloves. ;)

Chad worked today, so Lani came over and helped me take care of the boys. It’s always great to have someone to help.

We all went to Aidan’s basketball game today. It was the first for everyone in Team Thompson! Noah loved walking around, climbing the bleachers and playing with the other kids. Aidan’s team won in OT!
Joshua’s swing broke – with him in it! I didn’t see it, but Chad was there. Just one of the arms broke off from the frame. I’m sure it helped that Noah was hanging on it all the time trying to kiss and hug his brother. Thankfully, Joshua was strapped in, so he didn't fall out and wasn’t hurt at all. Noah got a fun new play thing because Chad carried him around in the broken seat and made it like a roller coaster ride for him. He was having so much fun.
When Joshua cries, his voice is so raspy. Everybody thinks he has a cold because of the way it sounds. I think he sounds like a teradactyl.Comments:Add a comment:

I finally had to up this teamthompson site because I got a warning that it was going to be DISABLED if I didn’t! Apparently, you get this warning when nothing new has been posted in 30 days. Oh my goodness, I’m soooo behind.

It’s Noah’s 17-month birthday today! He continues to show his love for music. As soon as he hears the intro to the “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands” song, he’ll clap his hands! It amazes me that he recognizes it so fast. He’ll also try and do the fingers to “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and will touch his head as soon as he hears “Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes”.
He constantly tests our patience when he continues to touch the electrical outlets when we tell him over and over again not to.
His newest signs are “sleep”, “more” when he really wants to eat, and “all done”.
Noah sometimes gets really needy and wants attention. When I’m busy cooking or washing dishes, he’ll squeeze and wedge himself between me and the counter and, in doing so, reminds me of those little Emporer penguin babies that try to stand on their father’s feet. It’s hard to be annoyed when he’s so funny.
Joshua’s hiccups will sometimes lead to him spitting up. I hope he grows out of the hiccups soon. He’s got them almost daily.

Joshua is now in Size 1 diapers! Apparently, that was the reason for all the leaks. The newborn size was too small. Duh.
I felt energetic today and took the boys for a walk for the very first time today. I put Noah in the stroller and put Joshua in the front carrier. We walked down to the park and
we pushed Noah in the swing and let him walk around for a little, too.

Chad & I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary tonight. We dropped off the boys at the Haan’s and took off for our fun night out. It was my first time leaving Joshua.
Chad knew that we were going to dinner and a movie, but he didn’t know where. It was an “even” year, so it was my year to plan our celebration. (Chad plans the “odd” years.) Chad drove while I read the directions to him and pumped milk for Joshua. I was excited to be going out and trying a new restaurant and was hoping it was as good as the reviews said claimed. We went to Mastro’s Ocean Club in Newport Beach. We had the first reservations for dinner, so there was no wait and we were seated right away. We had a generous table for 4 to share with a nice view of the ocean. We each picked a different glass of Pinot Noir to drink. Yum. Everything on the menu was a la carte (ie, expensive). Chad ordered an ahi appetizer to start. Then we ordered 2 different salads and 2 different fish entrees, plus lobster mashed potatoes to share. The potatoes were so decadent. It seriously looked like an entire block of butter was melted on top. It was a huge pool of butter. Butter creeps Chad out. He hates seeing it globbed on anything. I like butter, and even I thought it was way too much. Who knows how much butter was already mixed in! Everything was wonderful. The bread was to die for. At the end of the meal, even though I was the one who supposedly planned the night, Chad surprised me by arranging for dessert. It was a yummy piece of carrot cake with fresh fruit and whipped cream on a plate that had “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate on the rim. We ate it all...even the chocolate writing! Haha! It was all so good.
We left with happy tummies and headed to the movies and I pumped again. Well, the lines at the theater were about 30 people deep each! I guess everyone thought the movies sounded like a good idea tonight. It was so crowded, we couldn’t even find a parking space. So, after 5 minutes of driving around, we gave up and opted to rent a movie and pick up the boys early instead.
We got home and finally took Joshua’s “1-month” pic. We kept putting it off and putting it off. We have been so lazy!

My cell phone got washed today! ARGH! I’ve been living in my pj’s and keep my cell phone in my pocket around the clock to remind me when to feed Joshua. Well, Joshua got his first shower tonight. And I helped wash him while Chad carried him in the shower. I got soaked in the process. So, I threw my pj’s into the hamper forgetting that my phone was in the pocket. :( Smart, mommy!
We got the bill for Joshua’s delivery: $14,306.75! That’s WAY more than Noah’s bill and I was at the hospital for shorter time with Joshua. So, I don’t think that’s right. Anyway, thank goodness for insurance because we didn’t have to pay for any it!
Joshua looks like the pope when his little hospital hat starts sliding off his head. It’s very funny.
Noah has started doing this side step thing and it’s very cute!

Chad watched Noah at home while I took Joshua to his 1-mo. check-up today. I had a list of stuff to ask Dr. K, but I still forgot to ask him about Joshua’s jaundice. He didn’t say anything. So, I’m hoping no news is good news. Dr. K did say that Joshua has some “molding” on the right side of his head, and asked if I’ve noticed him preferring to look to the right. He wants us to be aware of how we’re holding him to try and stop the molding from getting worse.
Joshua is 11 lbs!
On the way home, I stopped by BestBuy and used the gift card that Chad got for me for Christmas. My current PDA has had a big crack in it that makes it hard to read some of the data that comes up. So, I got a new Pilot and still have some $$$ left of the card. Thanks, babe!
