When I got home from work today, Chad & Noah were out in front watering the plants. I pulled up the driveway in the car and Noah started waving at me, totally unprompted! It was sooo cute!!!
Noah is sick. Chad is sick, too. :( My poor boys. After his tough night, Chad felt worse and worse at work yesterday and now has definitely got a cold.
Noah's been coughing and sneezing and has a runny nose. He has had it for a couple days now. It doesn't really seem to be affecting his mood though. He's still pretty smile-y and played really well and ate pretty well.
I brought Daphne's home for dinner tonight and got Noah the rice he loves. Chad tried giving him some of the pita bread, too, and he ate that up really fast. They really do have the best pita bread. I love their food.Comments:Add a comment:

Chad & I had a little overnight getaway at the Westin South Coast Plaza. It was Lani's birthday gift to me, plus a day at The Spa. Chad dropped off Noah with Mama & Papa on Tuesday night and then we went to dinner at McCormick & Schmick's. It was a yummy dinner. The calamari appetizer was probably one of the best we've had and their apple pie was soooo good! We went back to the hotel to relax, but then Chad got sick in the middle of the night. I don't think it was the food because we were eating off each other's plate and I was fine. I think the gin & tonic he had may have been the culprit because everything else we ate the same. So, he had a tough night. Poor guy.
Before leaving for dinner, we had ordered breakfast to be delivered at 7 am, so that we could eat together before Chad had to leave for work. But, at 7 am, he didn't feel like eating, plus I was still stuffed and bloated from dinner, so we both kept sleeping until 10 am. When we finally got up, none of what we ordered sounded good to Chad. :( So, he left for work and I ate a little before heading to the spa. Bloating can be really annoying at times. I got a pedicure (I think it was my first since being on maternity leave for Noah - so over a year!) and a pregnancy massage. They have the special pregnancy pillows, so I was actually able to lay on my tummy for the first time during the massage! It was so comfortable and felt really good. Massages just never last long enough. ;)
After the spa, I went back to the hotel to check-out. It was just after 3 pm and Lani had a 4:00 pm late check-out arranged which was perfect. I ran a couple of errands before coming home. I had the house to myself since Noah was spending two nights at Mama & Papa's. I unpacked, and did little things around the house. It was a really nice getaway. Thanks, Lani! :)Comments:traci: Wow, what an awesome gift! Get well soon, Chad!!!Add a comment:

Noah's getting into a lot of mischief lately. Today, apparently, he fell down from the stairs. I didn't ask about the details. But I got home from work to see a silver dollar-sized purple bump on his head. It was the biggest one yet. Unfortunately, we know it won't be the last one. :(
Then, tonight, as I was feeding him some quesadilla, he actually STOOD UP in his high chair! He's been able to twist around in his seat, and every once in a while we will need to strap him in so he can't move around and will finish his dinner. But, starting tonight, we will definitely need to strap him down all the time. I can't imagine how much bigger a bump he'd get if he fell from that height!
Last week or so, Gammie mentioned that she found Noah sticking his hand in the toilet downstairs. ARGH! She washed him off, but that just grosses me out. We bought some toilet latches, but until we install those we will have to start putting the lid down and/or shutting the bathroom doors.
This is just the beginning...HAHA! I hope we can keep up with him!Comments:traci: Oh my GOSH! Noah, you rascal!!! Be good for your Mommy and Gammie!!!Add a comment:

We went to church and dropped Noah off at Sunday "school" for 2nd time! The first time was last Sunday. He does great according to the caregivers. Yay, Noah!
Noah was really cranky today. He was most whiney and fussy in a loooong time. By the afternoon, we decided to give him some teething tablets. That did seem to calm him down right away. But I couldn't feel any new teeth trying to pop out. He's been farting and burping quite a bit lately, too. We don't know why - maybe the milk? But he's been on that for a couple weeks now and just now he's been really gassy. He's also choking a lot more. It could be him choking on his spit since he's been drooling a lot lately.
The CUTEST thing he's doing now is kissing! We'll say "kiss Daddy" or "kiss Mommy" or "kiss the horsey" and he'll lean in and kiss Daddy, kiss Mommy, kiss the horsey...it's so adorable, even if it's super sloppy! ;)Comments:Add a comment:

Noah loves crawling up and down the stairs, especially when he can play ball with Daddy. Noah will crawl up the stairs with one of his plastic balls in one hand, then throw it down to Daddy. Then Daddy will toss it back up to Noah to catch. Sometimes Noah will have to crawl down to get to the ball and then he'll climb back up before throwing it back down. They'll keep playing like that for EVER! It's so cute to watch.
The Altima is almost dead. :( Chad had to "limp" it home in second gear. It's been slowly getting worse and worse. It has lastest over 12 years, so it's been a great little car. We have a call out to Saddleback to see if they accept donations or know of a good charity. I'm going to miss that car!Comments:traci: Oh my goodness, poor little Altima! How many miles does it have now - 300,000??? If Saddleback doesn't accept the car, here is a great charity that will! www.cars4causes.net

Noah likes Daphne's! I got a shrimp pita plate (my favorite) to-go for my dinner tonight. I hear the food isn't true Greek, but I love it. I was especially craving the rice and lucky for Noah I hadn't finished it all before trying to give him some because he kept looking at my food like he wanted some. There wasn't anything else on the plate that I could give him, except for the rice and he loved it. I ended up chopping up some roast chicken that we had left over and mixing that in, so it wouldn't be all carbs. Plus, he had only veggies for dinner. That's the driest bowl of food I think we've given him, so he drank a decent amount of water between bites. My boy is growing up so fast.
Poor Noah had diaper rash again. It looks like it's his poops that are causing him the irritation. It was definitely pink and red. He cried pretty hard when I was wiping his butt...poor little guy. But I had to clean him up as much as possible before putting on the diaper rash cream. I felt so bad.Comments:traci: mmmm... i love daphne's too! noah can have my rice anytime! good luck with that diaper rash, poor boy!Add a comment:

Since he's now one, Noah had to be tested for anemia which means giving a blood sample. I took him to the lab this afternoon to get his first finger stick. I was worried about how he'd react, especially since he started to cry when the nurse started to hold his hand. She ended up passing us off to another nurse (the one who checked us in) whom I preferred. She had been playing with Noah the whole time up until then. Noah did great. He didn't flinch at all when they pricked him. However, he didn't like when the nurse was squeezing his finger to get the blood out. I don't think they got a good prick because it took a while for them to fill the tiny vial they had to collect his blood. Anyway, Noah got some gauze and a bunch of tape to wrap around his finger...which he promptly pulled off. The nurse gave me a bandaid and it looked like that would stick for a while. But not more than a minute later, he had pulled that off, too.
I went through all of Noah's baby clothes tonight. His drawers were full and there was no room for all the new clothes he got from his birthday party. So, I filled 3 boxes with newborn to 6 month size clothes, and we packed them away in his closet. Some things I don't even remember him wearing. :( And some things we had him wear for DAYS in a row. Why we didn't rotate them more, I'll never know. Come December, we'll see if we keep all of those boys clothes or if we start buying lots of pink. :)Comments:Add a comment:

Random ramblings:
I am realizing that I really like ice cold water to drink. Up until now, I was just fine drinking water that was room temperature or slightly cold. It never had to be ice cold. I don't know if it's the warmer weather or the pregnancy or me just changing, but I only like my water ice cold now.
So far, no carpal tunnel! YAY! It's always in the back of my mind, but hopefully I won't have to go through that again with this baby. It wasn't horrible, just annoying. Which brings me to my back pain. It's mainly just on my right side, mid- and lower-back. I don't remember aching like this with Noah. Oh well, give and take with each pregnancy, right?Comments:Add a comment:

I think I had my first Braxton-Hicks contractions this morning. The front of my stomach got really tight. I'm not sure if that's what woke me up, but it was definitely noticeable. Not painful, but not hard to miss!
Noah took all THREE of his meals from his sippy cup today, instead of bottles! WOO HOO!!! I've been trying to be persistent with giving him his sippy cup at each meal. He'd drink an ounce or two usually and then chew on the spout, eventually throwing the cup down. I'd put the cup back in his mouth over and over again, trying to get him to finish. But after Noah pushing it away so many times, I'd give up and end up putting the remaining formula in a bottle. He'd finish it no problem that way.
So, I was so surprised this morning when I handed Noah the sippy cup and then noticed he was drinking his milk and was almost done! Soon, he finished the whole thing! He did well at lunch time, too, although he left about 2 oz in the cup. He may have been full 'cause he kept pushing me away when I'd try to give the cup to him. But eventually, he finished the milk in the cup. Noah drank his dinner cup in the car on the way to a birthday party. He left a couple oz this time as well, but finished it after a while.
So, no more bottles for the baby boy! I am putting them away tonight! I think what did it was the slow weaning off of formula. Today was the first day he had more milk than formula. He had 25% formula with 75% whole milk. I think the majority of it being whole milk helped him disassociate with the bottle. New taste, new cup...hooray, Noah!!!
We were playing with his toy cars today and Noah was really good about handing his cars over to me to place on the race track. I hope that means he'll be a good sharer...especially when Baby B comes along and wants to play.Comments:traci: YAAY! HE IS OFF THE BOTTLE!!!!!! THATS AWESOME!Add a comment:

It was a full day of dr's appts - 1 for Noah and 3 for me. LOADS of fun.
I was officially cleared at my cervical appointment this morning. I measured 4 cm - anything 3 cm and below is considered at risk for premature labor. Thank goodness everything is normal. I don't have to worry about anything and don't have to go back for any more check-ups, YAY!
Our little boy got 3 shots today at his 1-year check-up. It was the worst I have heard him cry. Soooo sad. Daddy was there to hold his arms down this time. I'm not looking forward to the time when I have to do that. I've lucked out with Daddy or Gammie being there with us to do that "dirty" work. Dr. K said Noah looks great. He's still near the 50th percentile for weight and height.
After lunch with my boys, I went to get my permanent crowns put in and then had OB appt #5. I gained EIGHT pounds over the last 4 weeks - UGH!!! I've gained a total of 17 pounds so far. But with the 20 I never lost from Noah, it's really 37 pounds total. Dang it, I really didn't want to gain any more than 30. But Dr. Kaminskas said that I'll probably get really close to 170 by the end of this pregnancy again. :(
Later that night, we took Noah to his first movie "Ratatouille". We went to the Cast screening at Downtown Disney. He didn't do too badly. He started to get restless halfway through the movie and I had to take him out of his stroller and hang out with him on the side of the theater.Comments:traci: Geez, those shots are NO FUN! Noah had eggs and yogurt for the first time this morning. He seems to love both!
He also knows how to crawl DOWN stairs the right way now - feet first. Daddy has been showing him how to do it, and he's got it!Comments:Add a comment:

I'm 41 today! Chad left me all kinds of flowers and sweet notes around the house and even in my car this morning. After work, Chad took me out to dinner. We had a yummy dinner at Romeo Cucina in Laguna.
When we got home and checked on Noah, the little rascal had pulled off his diaper! He's been doing that more and more lately. And, tonight, he was put to bed with just a shirt, so he was able to take his diaper completely off. Thank goodness there weren't any accidents! We definitely have to make sure he always has a onesie on or at least some shorts.Comments:traci: Happy Birthday, Tina!!!!!!!! Noah, don't leave your Mommy anyAdd a comment:

It was Noah's birthday party and dedication day! My family worked so hard to get everything set-up on time and they did such a great job! We could not have done it without them. That room was definitely transformed from an empty room to a party zone. I wish I had gotten more and better pictures of everything.
Noah did great throughout the event and didn't fuss at all. He didn't know what to make of the birthday candle. He just kept staring at it. He didn't know what to do wit his "cake" either. It was banana bread 'cause I know he likes it and cool whip for frosting 'cause I couldn't bring myself to let him eat all that sugar. Noah didn't want to touch his cake. Mom, Lani and Chad tried to feed it to him, but still no luck. They tried to get him to hold it, too, but he wouldn't. At least he didn't cry. He did get a good taste of cool whip for the first time.
Noah's dedication was a beautiful ceremony. I started crying which I had no idea I'd do. I think it's the pregnancy hormones. ;) Pastor Bennie made it very special and it was great to have such a good friend officiate for us.Comments:Add a comment:

Noah is ONE!!! I took today off to get everything ready for Noah's party tomorrow. I was so busy that I forgot to make note of when 5:52 pm rolled around - when Noah was born last year. Chad remembered though. :)
Since Noah was now one, we started giving him whole milk today in his bottle. We're starting with 25% of it being milk and the rest formula. We'll keep him on this blend for a few days and then slowly increase the amount of whole milk. I hope he does well with it...no allergies or other reactions. So far, so good!
Noah didn't seem to notice the difference with the added milk and finished his bottles as usual. We did decrease the amount in each bottle from 10 oz to 8 oz since I read that he should be drinking only about 24 oz total each day.Comments:Add a comment:

Reflections on Noah's first year...
Noah is the most incredible thing I've ever "done" in my whole life.
Noah is on a fabulous schedule: breakfast, play, nap, lunch, play, nap, dinner, play, bedtime. It wasn’t that hard to do – he’s been such an easy baby.
Except for a few drops of formula to get him started during his first few tries, all Noah got was breast milk for his first 6 months which thrilled me.
I have kept my kid alive for 12 months and going - plants are another story, so this is big for me!
I'm proud that I was able to note most of Noah's major milestone dates and keep this website updated.
There have been no trips to the E.R. nor calls to Poison Control (crossing fingers)!!
I love that Chad is such a fun Daddy and loving, patient, considerate, kind, thoughtful husband.Comments:Add a comment:

Chad likes taking Noah outside with him when he's working in the yard. Today, he said that they were in the front yard and that Noah was waving to the neighbors across the street when they pulled up in their car. Too cute! I wish I had seen it! He'll wave randomly, so I don't think he knows what it means yet. But, today, he got it right!

We finished shooting Kuh Ledesma's music video for "Silayan" today. We were at Aliso Creek Beach from about 3:30 to 6:30 this afternoon. It was a warm, but gorgeous day at the beach. We had to walk about a half mile south of the main beach area to get to the filming location. And during one of our final shots, I hear my name being called...it's a flower delivery guy with a dozen red roses! I was shocked! Because not only was I getting flowers, but that some guy walked all the way down the beach and actually found us. I guess it wasn't hard to locate a bunch of girls in Hawaiian garb, but still. Oh. My. Gosh. I was so surprised. Well, of course, the flowers were from Chad. He was working, so he wasn't able to come see us. But he just said he was so proud of me for choreographing and teaching and performing this hula, especially because he knows it's the thing I love to do. Isn't he just the sweetest????

I waited for 40 minutes for a 1 minute appointment! It was a quick ultrasound today to check my cervix. It seriously didn't last longer than a minute. We got to see the baby yawn during the session, so that was cool. The fetal diagonostic doctor is being cautious because I was measuring on the lower side, but still in the "normal" range. If they find it's getting shorter, than I'm at higher risk for premature labor. Thankfully, the length measured normal again today, so I just have to go back for one final check. If it looks good again in a couple weeks, then I'm fine for the rest of the pregnancy.
After that, I had part 1 of 2 of my dental appts to get crowns on my 2 right lower back molars.
What a fun day of appointments...ha!Comments:Add a comment:
