Noah has been starting wave "bye". It's so cute! We're also trying to teach him how to kiss. Sometimes, I think he gets it. ;)

He was tired coming back from an errand this afternoon and fell asleep in the car - not unusual. However, what was unusual was that he could hardly keep his eyes open when I got him out of his car seat to take him upstairs to finish his nap. Usually, he wakes up and then doesn't want to nap anymore. So, we sometimes struggle with the decision whether or not to leave him in the car to sleep. Today, he actually laid his head down on my shoulder as I walked him from the car to his room. I loved that! He's too restless most of the time to relax that way. It felt so sweet to have him snuggle into me like that.

It was weird being home by myself the last couple of days. Noah was spending the night at Mama & Papa's, and Chad was finishing a shift and then got mandatoried for another one, so I had the whole house to myself. It was crazy to not have Noah home, at the very least. Usually, when he's at Mama & Papa's, it's because Chad & I are doing something together. But this weekend there was NO ONE home!

What did I do with my time before the baby came??? Oh my gosh, my life - up to a year ago - was truly carefree. ;) All night, I kept thinking I had little baby sleeping next door. I was trying to keep the house quiet and imagining hearing a baby cry and then remembered that Noah wasn't here. So strange! I didn't like it. I wouldn't change my life for anything in the world. I love my family! :)

Noah started really crawling today! I guess he actually started doing it yesterday, but he was at Mama & Papa's so I didn't see him do it until today. He's been favoring the "army crawl" over a "real" crawl. But now he's doing the "real" crawl more often! It's very exciting to see him grow up before our eyes.

We took him to Picture People to get his "1-yr." pic taken. And that's when I saw him crawling all around the studio. I can't believe a year has passed already. It really does go by sooo fast. Thank goodness for pictures and videos.

Noah has finished his first week of swim lessons today. I was in the pool with Noah for his first class on Mon. Then, Chad was with him on Tue & today. And Papa was with him on Wed. So, Noah's gotten a lot of different help this week which is great! He has the last four lessons next Mon-Thu. He seems to enjoy the water and has yet to cry or fuss from being dunked over and over again. Surprisingly, he even knows how to paddle his arms! We didn't teach him that! It must be instinctive. Chad calls Noah a fish because he's such a good swimmer. :) It looks like Noah has got a little bit of color on his face. He's obviously getting a little tan from the short times he's in the pool.

Noah's the cleanest he's ever been because we've been giving him a bath each night after each lesson. That's a record for us. He was lucky if he got a bath once a week before! HAHA!

Chad's doing an incredible job painting the house. He finished the primer and started the actual painting. Papa has been coming over with Julia to help out, too. Noah's swim lessons have been a nice break for them after working so hard each day.

For the first time this pregnancy, I looked down at my feet and didn't recognize them. ARGH! They're starting to swell. I didn't feel like my shoes were tighter today. But it was still really warm when I got home from work and apparently the heat did it. Bummer! The swelling was the worst symptom when I was pregnant with Noah and I still have 4+ months to go with Anya or Joshua. I hope I don't get carpal tunnel anytime soon. That was really annoying, too.

Noah & I went to our weekly Stroller Strides exercise class this morning. It's been really sunny and warm lately, so I thought I should start putting sunscreen on him. I put it all over, including his face and hands. I should have known better 'cause he touches his face all the time and the sunscreen got in his eyes. He cried like I've never heard him cry before and his eyes were so red from being irritated. I felt sooooo bad!!! I tried rinsing them out with water, but he would only scrunch them closed. I had to let him cry it out. :(

Noah had his first swim lesson today and he did great! Did sucked down some water in the beginning, and coughed a few times. When he chokes, his face gets so red (especially his eyebrows) - it's very funny and cute at the same time. The teacher also completely dunked him under the water a handful of times and he didn't cry at all. I got brave and tried doing it myself a few times towards the end of the class and he didn't cry with me either! I was so proud of him. He was the youngest baby there. The other two girls in the class were like 2-years old. It's Daddy's turn to take Noah to the lesson tomorrow.

Noah loves grapes! I was craving something refreshing and light for dinner, so we went to Henry's to get some fruit after the swim class. We got some really good, crunchy, sweet red grapes and Noah ate them as finger food, no problem. I cut them in 8 pieces each and put them on his tray for dessert after his dinner. He kept clearing the tray, so I kept adding more. He must have eaten at least 6 grapes total - that's 48 (or more) pieces!

Chad started the big paint project on our house today. He started spraying the primer and got the majority of one side of the house done in a couple hours before he had to rush off to work. He's not only painting the house, but he's going to paint the surrounding wall, too. Oh my... After all the primer is done, he's got to do two coats of paint, plus all the detail work. He's under the gun because the windows are in and the company is ready to install them. But Chad wants to finish painting first before they replace the windows. Good luck, Daddy! We know it's a HUGE project. Chad said himself he hopes he only has to paint this house ONCE in his lifetime. I hope he's right!

A couple milestones today: Noah said "mama" for the first time - two distinct times that I heard. Chad was playing with him and was trying to get him to say "mama"...and he did! The second time was when Noah had fallen and was lying on his back and couldn't get up. So, he was calling me to help him. It was very cute.

Noah also got his first diaper rash (in the butt area). It looked a little pink and he was fussing more than usual after a dirty diaper, so we think that's the cause. Poor little guy.

Chad picked up our wedding album today...18 months later. It looks great and smells great! That's a real leather cover, no mistaking it. We love it! Now, to find the perfect place in our home for it, that's the challenge.

I'm totally guessing here, but I'm going to say we're having a girl. I was just thinking that I haven't been craving meat like I was with Noah. (I remember I was craving Taco Bell tacos for a good month with Noah - I never eat at Taco Bell otherwise!) I actually am preferring less meat with anything, especially salads. That's not totally unusual because sometimes chicken tastes funny to me. But I've been opting for vegetarian versions of chicken salads and taco salads...especially at Chipotle. Yum. They put rice and beans on their veggie salad. And their dressing is soooo good.

On the other hand, based on when I think I ovulated and when we probably conceived, more than likely it's a boy. Plus, I did buy a roast chicken from Henry's and practically finished the whole bird in one sitting. It was so moist and tasty.

How's that for definitive for you. I'm as wishy-washy as ever. HAHA!

I'm past the halfway mark of this pregnancy. 4-ish months to go before Baby B arrives doesn't sound very long.

My mid-back is start to ache on a regular basis, especially sitting all day at a desk. I've been getting little headaches after working out. Sometimes I feel queasy, but haven't gotten sick, thank goodness. I justed started using my pregnancy body pillow to keep me on my left side at night. Otherwise, I'd always be on my back (my favorite sleeping position) which isn't recommended for the baby because of blood circulation issues. He/she's gotta have plenty of oxygen. I get bloated at times, too, which is a bummer because I love to eat. I have been snacking throughout the day because I do get hungry. Many days I have two lunches! Sometimes I can't eat because I feel full even though I'm hungry. That's the worst.

Really, I have had no horrible pregnancy symptoms to complain about. I just have to keep the weight down so I don't swell up again this summer. That was the worst part.

We have picked another boy name - Joshua. I've been searching for a while because, although I do like Christian, it has been sounding a little too "generic" of a biblical name to me (if that makes sense), plus I just met a girl with that name. And I want our boy's name to be a real boy's name...no confusion, you know?

The other reason I like it is because I've always loved the Italian version of it "Giosué", as the little boy in "Life in Beautiful" was named. He was so adorable and I absolutely love that movie - it's one of my all time favorites - timeless and classic.

So...come December, it will be Noah & Anya or Noah & Joshua! :)

Chad felt "Baby B" for the first time this morning! I had just woken up and was lying still trying to feel the baby - my normal M.O. in the mornings (and evenings as I'm going to sleep). The baby was moving, so I grabbed Chad's hand and put it on my tummy. He felt the baby right away. He was so excited! That woke him up fast!

We got our second ultrasound today and got lots of pictures to take home for the scrapbook. The tech printed out what she said was "the" picture and sealed it in an envelope for us to see AFTER Baby B is born. She was confident that she got the gender right. I guess we'll see in December! (The other tech was right for Noah!) Chad tried holding up the envelope to the light when she walked out of the room - cheater!

Right afterwards, we had our prenatal appointment #4.

The bad news: I gained FIVE POUNDS! Argh, I knew the weight was going to catch up to me sooner or later. That puts me up 29 pounds already - 9 lbs from this pregnancy, plus the 20 lbs I never lost from Noah. I really don't want to gain anymore, but I know that's impossible not to do. Sigh...

The good news: My blood pressure is normal, I'm not swelling and the baby's heartbeat sounds good. I got my sequential screening test results back. Based on my age alone, the initial risk for Baby B to have Downs Syndrome was 1 out of 65 - not that good. After the first set of tests, it dropped to 1 out of 405 - better. And now, after the final tests, it is 1 out of 10,000! We are very happy and relieved with those odds!

Later - so I can gain another FIVE pounds this month! - Team Thompson went to the O.C. Fair. It was Noah's first time! He had lots of fun watching all the people, the Peking Acrobats (amazing!) and watching Mommy & Daddy eat lots of fried food, along with the Banisters and Ruffners. We all helped each other eat our food and we all had a great time.

Noah got his 3rd hair cut today. Daddy just loves playing barber! ;)

We got the jacuzzi fenced in today, too. It doesn't look so bad. We considered just having the net kind which are less visually-intrusive. But it's more cumbersome to remove. We have lots more babyproofing to do. But that was a big and important one.

If Noah's awake in his crib when we check on him, most of the time he's standing up (!) and hanging on to the railing, trying to reach for his mobile! He's growing up so fast.

He's becoming a little pill during meal time and throwing his food on the floor. Not good. We're trying to not play the "pick up" game and will just finish his meal time when he starts doing that.

We haven't given up trying to get him to drink his formula from a sipper cup. In fact, I bought a new one today with a soft, bottle-nipple type spout, hoping that will be an easier transition for him. He's not going for that one either. We'll keep trying. This is definitely where our patience and persistence will come in handy.

We're giving him water from a regular cup every once in a while, so he becomes familiar with other ways to drink. No juice yet for him though. We'll wait until he's a year before we give him juice, real milk, beef, pork, fish...pretty much everything else that he hasn't tried so far.

Noah went swimming for the first time today! Auntie Kim invited us over for a pool party, along with Auntie Kath and Ky. Rebecca, Jacob and Rachel had fun playing with him. Noah loved the water and was having so much fun splashing - just like he always does when he takes a bath.

I gave him another bath on my own today! I remembered my camera - YAY! But I forgot that it was already blinking "low battery" from Auntie Kim's earlier - BOO. I did manage to get a few shots still. Noah, of course, loved his bath as usual. He especially loves touching the water as it's coming out of the faucet and splashing, splashing, splashing.

After his bath, he loves playing "where's Noah" with his bath towel. He really likes when the towel is coming floating down onto him. He just laughs and laughs. He's really good at pulling the towel down off his face, too. It's very cute. I need to get that on video...when Chad's home to help. :)

Noah's circumcision has never given him/us any problems. Yay to no infections! However, when we went to his 9 month appointment, his pediatrician mentioned that the skin around the tip had adhered a bit and to try pushing it down with every diaper change. Well, it's been slowly coming loose, thank goodness. I've heard that some babies actually have to have the procedure REDONE - poor things! Anyway, thankfully, his little tip is almost completely exposed again. It's a little red in that area, but Dr. K said that it is normal. Yay, Noah!

Noah is 11 months old today! Hard to believe he'll be ONE in just a month!

He's getting so good at walking along the sofa. He can go pretty fast now. Just last night, he made a couple of real crawling moves while on his hands & knees. We definitely need to practice that more.

He has been finishing 10+ oz. of formula at each meal for a few weeks now. And we started introducing him to a sippy cup over the weekend. He's not liking it very much. He just chews on the sipper part. Grrr. We tried with the no-spill insert in at first and then tried it without so the formula would just flow out and hopefully so he would understand that that's where the milk is now. He still fusses. After about 1/2 hour of trying, we end up putting whatever's left of the formula (usually 8 oz.) back in the bottle and he finishes his milk that way. Oh well, he can't be perfect, can he? ;) We'll keep trying.

We are going on a family date on Saturday. It's 7/7/07, so Chad said it's his luckiest day ever! :) So, he's taking Noah and me out. I don't know what he's got planned. But we will have fun even if it's just staying home and hanging out. I count my MANY blessings every day!!!

So...Chad surprised Noah and me and took us to a picnic at Laguna. We went to the very same spot as our first picnic there where we shared our first kiss. I had taken a nap in the afternoon, so it was a perfect time for Chad to go shopping and prep all the food without me knowing what he was planning. We had crab cakes, spinach salad and rosemary chicken with wild rice. Sooo good! Then we had cheesecake and Chad had smashed three different berries for sauces and brought some chocolate sauce, too. I liked the blackberry sauce the best, and didn't touch the chocolate - go figure. Chad even packed the portable DVD player so Noah could watch his Baby Einstein DVD. Chad had to bring the car charger for power since the portable battery on the DVD doesn't hold a charge. That backpack was HEAVY! He even brought a thermos of hot earl grey tea and bought me flowers, too. :) We got home, put Noah to bed and watched the Count of Monte Cristo - again just like we did after our first picnic in Laguna. It was a very fun day!

Noah has 2 more teeth popping through. They're on the top, surrounding the front two he's already got. The one on his right side is further out than the left. Gammie said he was fussy this afternoon, so she gave him some teething tablets and Tylenol. He chewed on a cold plastic teether for most of the night for relief.

The little stinker is starting to push away the toothbrush when I try to brush the top teeth. The bottom ones are easy for me to get to and he doesn't seem to mind getting those brushed. I think the toothbrush tickles him when I'm doing the top teeth.

Our 4th was very low key. We washed and waxed my new car in the morning. WOO HOO! ;) Then, we drove up to my parents place for a BBQ. We dropped off Noah and then Chad & I went to see Pirates 3 (finally), then came back for dinner. We saw a bunch of fireworks shows along the freeway on the way home. Noah fell asleep in the car as expected which was fine 'cause we didn't plan to go watch any fireworks shows anyway. We were in bed by 10 pm. Ah, parenthood!

I think we made a decision on the nursery decor for Baby B. We're not picking a neutral theme this time because Chad is going to paint and decorate once the baby is here - and so we'll decorate for a girl or boy. I'm not supposed to walk stairs for the first 2 weeks after having the baby. So, he's thinking that will be a good time for him to finish the room, since we won't be exposed to paint fumes since the baby & I won't be going upstairs anyway. It will hopefully be plenty of time for him to finish.

For a girl, it's easy. We've had that figured out for a while. It'll be Lilo & Stitch / hula girl decor. For a boy, that was a little tougher since we didn't want it to be too boyish since Noah's "Finding Nemo" room isn't too boyish. We don't want Noah to feel like he missed out getting a fireman or astronaut theme 'cause mom & dad didn't wait to find out with him. ;) So, if Baby B is another boy, his room will be "A Day at the Zoo". You can get a sneak peak at it here:

    http://www.babyuniverse.com/kit.asp?id=2638&store=baby

It's really cute I think and Chad said we will then have "land and sea" themes, so he can tell "land" stories in Baby B's room and "sea" stories in Noah's. :)

Noah's fat little leg got caught between the crib slats - AGAIN! It's happened a few times, but most recently on Saturday morning (and again today). Chad was home on Saturday, so he's the one that checked on Noah when we heard him cry. It was definitely a "I'm hurt" cry. Chad said he had to lick his fingers and then wet the sides of Noah's leg so it would slide out. HAHA! Chubs!

Well, his leg was wedged in pretty tightly this morning, too. He may have been stuck like that for about 20 minutes before I got him. I waited that long only because he wasn't making that "hurt" cry, so I thought he maybe woke up from a bad dream. So, I waited just in case he fell back asleep. It was early, about 6:40 am. He usually doesn't make a peep until 8 am at the earliest. At 7 am, he was still crying sporatically, so I figured I'd just get him up early for the day. Well, that's when I found his left leg sticking out of the crib. Poor little guy. I couldn't push his leg back out very easily. I had to pull his body with my right hand, and push his leg with my left. I got scared for a second because it wasn't budging! But he finally got loose. I felt sooo bad.

I think we have to buy a bumper for his crib. He's never had one on before. We'll get a simple "breathable" one from Target probably. I need to go tonight I think, so he doesn't get stuck again. I think it happens when he's looking at/playing with the mirror that we have attached to the side of his crib. Maybe if we move it to the top of his crib instead, he won't have to pivot his body around, and then he will be less likely to get his leg caught...hopefully anyway. He's getting so big, he's barely fitting in his crib sideways nowadays.

Also, since Noah is starting to pull up, Chad had to lower his crib to the most bottom level. We may have to take down the mobile soon, too.

We're getting a fence installed around the jacuzzi in the backyard soon. We're slowly, but surely baby-proofing. There is one table we don't have to worry about Noah bumping his head on. It was the one in the TV room. Chad accidentally broke the glass when he was trying to move it. He said it shattered in a million and a half pieces! Chad had to vaccuum 4 times. Yikes!

I gave Noah a bath all by myself! It was my first time trying and we did great! :) We had gone to the Lake Mission Viejo and met some friends for a BBQ. Well, Noah was playing in the grass and I know that I get itchy after doing that, so I figured I better give him a bath in case he's like me. So, I gathered his tub, toys, brush, soap, cup, washcloth, towel, aquafor and diaper. I had everything except for my camera, darn it! Oh well, there will definitely be a next time.
