Joshua LOVES peeing on me! Are the diapers we’re using that cheap? Or is he just peeing a lot? Who knows.
A funny thing he does is hold his breath, turn red and then make a squeaky grunt. Weird kid.
Chad worked today, so I took to the boys over Mama & Papa's to spend the holiday. I was tired, but I did manage to stay up for the countdown. Chad came by the next morning after his shift and spent the morning with us watching the parade before we packed up and headed home.
Happy New Year, everyone!Comments:Pomai: Ewwww why does he pee on you that is so gross. : )Add a comment:

Noah did the “all done” sign for the first time! Yay! He knows how you work the remote by pointing it to the TV. He’s so smart! He knows how to use a phone, too, by putting to it his ear. But he overshoots it and it ends up on the back of his head instead. He knows how to sit in his chair now, too.

Chad went to work today. So, today was my first 24 hrs on my own with the boys. I’m trying to think positively that I can do this! I’m living for nap times right now.

Joshua is 1-month old today! His lanugo on his back and shoulders is starting to fall off. His face is fattening up and rounding out, too. He’s getting some cradle cap, mostly on his eyebrows right now. He’s such a noisy eater ‘cause he breathes so heavily. He does the same stretch as Noah did where he twists his body to the right and lifts his chin to the left. So funny. He’ll do the “Superman” one-armed stretch every once in a while, too.

Christmas Day! Chad left for work and then I packed up the boys and we drove to Mama & Papa’s house for the holiday.
When I got into the driver’s seat, I noticed that Chad left a Christmas gift on the passenger’s seat for me. He is so sweet! I didn’t even get him anything! My excuse being that I haven’t been able to get away. Well, he got me a BestBuy gift card – he snuck that one in when we went shopping the other day!
It was a fun, low-key, relaxing day - just perfect and exactly how I like to spend it.

Noah’s bottom right molar is out! That’s tooth #12. He’s started to walk backwards, walk in circles and loves kicking balloons and balls.
I spent the day wrapping gifts and making Christmas cookies.Comments:Add a comment:

Chad has to work on Christmas Day again this year, so we celebrated Christmas a couple days early at the Haan’s this morning. Chad made a yummy huevos rancheros for breakfast.
We picked up our Christmas cards at CostCo and then Chad help me assemble, address and stamp them to go out tomorrow – Christmas eve. Everyone will get them after Christmas, but at least the postmark with be before the holiday, right? ;)

Three days before Christmas and we hadn’t bought one Christmas present yet. So, we all went shopping this afternoon. First stop was Target. Target rocks. We crossed off the majority of our list there – YAY! And whatever else we still needed to get, we got at BestBuy. Our Christmas shopping was done in 3 hours!
I didn’t like the picture on our Christmas photo cards that we had done at CostCo last week, so I redid them on Costco.com to pick up tomorrow. There was a cute picture of us at the Fitz party with the horses, so I used that one and added a close-up of Joshua as the second picture since we were using the cards as a birth announcement, too. Next year, I gotta remember that online is the way to order those photo cards because you can add 2 pictures there (vs. just 1 picture at the store).
Joshua’s eye is all better!!! The breast milk worked! YAY!

Gammie came over and visited her grandsons. It gave me some time to go out for the first time on my own without the boys or anyone. I went to WalMart and Ralphs and was back just in time for Joshua’s next feeding.
Afterwards, I packed up the boys and drove to Lani’s work. They were having their Christmas party and so we went to try and get cute pictures of the boys with Santa. Noah didn’t want to have anything to do with him, so he’s cranky in most of the shots.
We had a busy day because that night we all went to the Fitz Family Christmas party – Cheyenne’s parents’ party in CDC. Oh my goodness. Their house is gorgeous and was decorated to the hilt – inside and out! All the neighbors and a bunch of family & friends were there. They had hot cider and a ton of cookies for everyone, plus SLEIGH RIDES! There was a horse-drawn sleigh, plus a horse-drawn trolley to give more people rides because apparently there was always a wait before. It was a beautiful night and Emma & Noah got to play together again.

At 1 pm, we took Joshua to see Dr. K about his eye infection. Good news: It’s not an eye infection. It’s a plugged eye duct. When the tears can’t drain, it can dry his eye shut. So, all we need to do is put warm compresses on it and it should clear up. We can also drop BREAST MILK into his eye to treat it because of all the antibodies in it! Wow, how weird/interesting is that! Bad news: It’s likely that it will happen off and on over the next year.
Joshua got to weigh in again. He’s now up to 9 lb. 8 oz.!
As we pulled up to our house, Chad’s friend Cory had just arrived to bring us dinner. He made some YUMMY chicken tortilla soup. He brought a HUGE container full of it plus all the fixings to go with it: avocado, cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips and corn bread. It was sooo good. We need to get that recipe!
I tried dropping milk into Joshua’s eye. I’m sure he’s wondering “what the heck are you doing to me, mom?!”, but hopefully it helps. I’ll keep doing it at each nursing session until his eye is better.
I taped the sounds Joshua makes when he nurses. I loved listening to the sounds Noah made way back when.

Oh no, Noah threw up overnight! :( As soon as I opened his bedroom door, the scent hit me. Yikes. He was in great spirits though. So, I’m glad he wasn’t feeling bad. It was weird – it was hard, dried-up, big pieces of yuck. Never saw one like that before. It was all over his pj’s, sheets, blanket. I shook it all out behind the fence of our backyard (ha!) and threw it all in the washer. Gross!
Both boys apparently had a tough night last night. Joshua woke up with an eye infection. His right eye was completely sealed shut. It was dried and green and crusty. Poor little guy! :( We decided to make an ANOTHER appt for Joshua to see the doctor. Two appts in less than two weeks for our little guy who wasn’t even a month old yet.
We all went shopping and then went to Wasabi for dinner. Yum!
We gave Joshua his second bath. That’s always a huge accomplishment for us.

We went to CostCo today! I ordered our Christmas photo cards. I thought we could do some shopping and then pick them up on the way out. But the cards take one day, so we have to come back tomorrow. Bummer! CostCo is always fun and we always eat at the food court afterwards. Love their pizza!

Today, we went back to “Santa in the Hills” to get another picture – this time with the Haan cousins. We did it last year, too – it was just Noah and the Haans then. This year, Joshua’s there. This will definitely be a fun tradition each year to get a Santa pic with all the kids.
Joshua had the hiccups FOUR times today. He rarely spits up, but I got a palm full of it today.Comments:Add a comment:

Lani does such a funny impression of Noah. He tries to talk and makes these funny sounds. Lani has it down!
I pumped this morning and got nothing! 0 oz! Not even a drop! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised considering I didn’t eat a thing yesterday. Thankfully, my stomach’s feeling better and so I started eating again. My poor baby. I hope Joshua is getting enough to eat.

My stomach was so sore still from last night that I didn’t want to eat. I didn’t eat anything all day. I wasn’t hungry, which is WEIRD for me.

It was Chad’s first day back to work today. I was really scared that I wouldn’t be able to handle both boys on my own. I got through the day only because I knew that my family was coming over that night to help me. God Bless family! They saved me. Lani brought over a ton of food from Pat & Oscar’s for dinner. But I had a bad stomach ache afterwards. Not sure if it was from the food, but it hurt!
Joshua had hiccups again.
Noah was doing the funniest thing and walking around with a big plastic bucket on his head. It’s one of those gallon ice cream buckets. It’s most opaque, so he can’t see where he’s going when he has it on his head. It’s the FUNNIEST thing watching him walk into the wall, or his toys, or the wall again. He’ll fall, but he’ll just get up, put the bucket back on his head and do it all over again.

Joshua slept for a 5-1/2 hour stretch today!!! WOO HOO!!! Let’s hope this is just the beginning.
He still gets hiccups a lot.

Chad & I packed up the boys and we went to take a picture with Santa today. Chad really likes the Santa at the “Santa in the Hills” location in Anaheim Hills. It’s the fundraiser that his fire department does every holiday.
Ugh, I thought I looked ok before we left. But I did not like the way I looked in any of the pictures. All I saw was CHUB! :(
After the pictures, we all had lunch at Daphne’s. This was Joshua’s first time eating out with the family. And, wouldn’t you know, Daphne’s was the first restaurant for Noah when he was a newborn, too. We love Daphne’s!
Joshua does not like sitting in his car seat! He’s ok when we are finally moving. But he does not like being stuck in there if we’re not going anywhere!

Chad’s firefighter friend Curtis and his wife Debra came up from San Diego to visit. Chad cooked and we had a good afternoon just catching up.
The pumping is going well. I’m getting anywhere between 2 oz. and 5-1/2 oz. in about 15 minutes over the past few days.
It’s Noah’s 16-mo. birthday! He’s been doing this weird thing of licking his fingers after touching stuff. It’s creepy! He sure loves Joshua and will always kiss or do the head touching thing whenever he’s near. It’s too adorable!

Noah took another header on the “play huts” this morning. I was still sleeping, so I missed it. But Chad said it was a good one. Apparently, Noah was standing on the couch and reached for a toy that was laying on top of the hut. Well, the huts are collapsible (they are made like the sunshades for your car windshield) and he went "feet over head".
I caught myself reaching for the decaf tea today. I don’t need to worry about drinking decaf anymore...or anything else for that matter! Bring on the wine!Comments:Add a comment:

I have been so sore from breastfeeding. Joshua’s been hard on me when latching. It is so painful. I almost cry just thinking about the next time I have to feed him again. So, I told Chad that I want to pump every other session, just to give my "girls" a break. On my very first pumping session, I got just under 4 oz. in 10 minutes. Not bad. Chad gave Joshua 3 oz. of it in his first bottle and he took it no problem! Yay! I hope to be able to recover soon. Man, I’m in pain right now.
It is our 23-month anniversary today. I can’t believe we’re coming up to 2 years. The time is flying by!
Chad had insomnia tonight. I was sleeping hard and didn’t even know he got out of bed. He was “tinkering” in the garage - his favorite thing to do – until the wee hours of the morning. Crazy guy!
We called the pediatrician today because Joshua's jaundice seems to be getting worse. The whites of his eyes are looking really yellow. I read that jaundice can lead to brain damage. Scary. After describing his symptoms, the nurse suggested we come in. Unfortunately, the only time Dr. K had available was at 4:30 pm today – at the San Clemente office! Ugh, what a drive, plus it was in the rain and rush hour. So, we all went on a little road trip. It was the first time we all went somewhere together. It was a fun little outing. It feels so good to get out.
Joshua got weighed again which I was excited about. He is 8lb 5oz!!! Yay, he has surpassed him birth weight at 11 days old! We asked if we could weigh Noah, too, while we were waiting for Dr K. Noah is 24 lb 8 oz – I actually thought he was heavier. ;) Anyway, Dr. K examined Joshua and wasn’t concerned. He said it could be “breast feeding” jaundice (which I had never heard of, but later read about in one of my baby books). He said that’s usually remedied with a couple days of formula feedings. I really don’t want to do that, and thankfully the doctor said he won’t recommend any treatments until he sees Joshua again in a few weeks at his 1 month appt. So, that’s good news!
On the way home, Chad stopped by Golden Spoon and we treated ourselves to some yogurt and said “Happy Anniversary”. :) I made him stop by Carl’s Jr. too for dinner. I was craving a burger! ;)

Joshua’s umbilical cord fell off today! Chad noticed it wasn’t there. We found it tangled up in his swaddling blanket.
We gave him his birth bath since coming home. He didn’t enjoy it one bit. We did it in the boys’ bathroom. Noah was taking a nap and we were sure that Joshua’s howling was going to wake him up. Luckily he didn’t.
Joshua tracks really well with his eyes. Chad does a great job getting him to follow the sounds he makes.

Noah LOVES hugging Joshua. He does the cutest thing where he tilts his head and slowly moves it towards Joshua until he touches Joshua's head. It’s adorable.
Noah HATES getting his diaper changed and won’t lay still when we try to do it. We now keep little toys near the changing areas to distract him. He is being really needy lately. I wonder if he is realizing that there’s a new baby that's stealing a bunch of attention.Comments:Add a comment:

Noah is getting his bottom right molar.
It was the first time I had both babies by myself – kinda frightening – while Chad ran some errands and got groceries.
We decided to get a smaller “table top” Christmas tree. Chad found a really cute one at Home Depot. We figured it would be safer to have it up on our small end table rather than a full-sized one on the ground where Noah could get to it. Also, it would be cheaper. And because it would be smaller, it would less tree to decorate, so less trouble and done in less time. Win win!

Joshua had his first session of tummy time. He can lift his head well already. He doesn’t cross his eyes much which is good!
While I was napping, Chad & Nathan put up our Christmas lights.
I started getting the chills. It’s so awful. It feels like I’m getting sick. I don’t feel good and I feel miserable, especially having to get up every 3 hours to feed the baby. I'm exhausted.Comments:Add a comment:

Joshua has dimples when he smiles! Mama noticed them. We heard his first squirts (poop). It was his first time in the swing today.
Noah says “baba” for baby. Too cute. He’s getting his upper left molar – molar #2. :)Comments:Add a comment:
