I've been sick in bed all weekend. Chad has been working all weekend, too, so my parents came to take Noah back to their house yesterday. He spent the night there, so I could get some rest. It's been WEIRD being home all alone. I kept thinking I need to feed the baby or I need to check on the baby, but he isn't here! Whoa, a glimpse of life before Noah...what did we do with our time before that little guy??? I can't imagine being without him now! :)

We tried giving Noah his first bottle of formula tonight for his "dream feeding" session at 9 pm. He didn't like it at all! Usually, he's half asleep when I nurse him at that time and never opens his eyes. But his eyes opened fast and big when he tasted that formula! He gave me a look like "what is this yucky stuff are you trying to feed me, mom?" I don't blame him. I got a whiff of it when I was making it and it smelled kinda bad, like powdered milk. Well, I guess it is basically, right? It just doesn't smell very appetizing to me. I gave up after a few tries and nursed him. It was disappointing that he didn't like the formula 'cause I was hoping to slowing start weaning him off breast milk. My supply has started slowing down and I'm worried he's not getting enough to eat. If he got formula, then I wouldn't worry so much about him thriving. He's just a couple weeks away from his 6 month birthday, so I was almost able to feed him breast milk exclusively for 6 months as I had hoped. I just wish I wasn't "forced" to stop because of my diminshing supply. I would have rather stopped on my own. I guess it's for the best 'cause I heard it's better to stop breast feeding when you become pregnant - something about all the nutrients going to the baby, rather than your breast milk. Chad & I are hoping to start officially trying in February. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

I'm sick AGAIN! I started feeling bad a work yesterday - sneezing and feeling chilly. Well, all night, it kept getting worse. So, when I woke up to feed Noah at 6 am, I knew I wasn't feeling well enough to go to work. So, I called in sick. Thankfully, Noah let me sleep in until 10 am. And then we slept again until 2:30 pm. We're off our feeding schedule, but Noah seems to not be very hungry. It sounds like he's got some "junky" breathing. I hope he's not getting sick again, too.

Noah is showing definite signs of being ready for solids. Tonight at dinner, we were having El Pollo Loco. Noah was sitting in his Bumbo on the table with us and kept staring at the chicken. He was probably thinking that it smelled good and wondered what it was. Chad turned him 180 degrees around and Noah craned his neck to try to look at the chicken again. It was so funny!

I took the final step to complete my mommyhood. I got my hair cut! I went to Fantastic Sams to donate to Locks of Love again. I did it last year. Gotta love those free hair cuts! My hair hasn't been this short in 10 years! I even got it layered so it actually has STYLE now. HAHAHA! I'm not doing hula shows on a regular basis anymore plus my hair was so damaged from our last Christmas show. It was time for another cut. Plus, Noah can't pull on it anymore. ;)

Whoa. Noah had the stinkiest poops today! It's starting to smell like real poop now. Chad thinks the rice cereal is kicking in. I think he's right!!! Oh man, it's just gonna get worse from this point, especially when we start feeding him solids! AAAHHHHH!!!
p.s. I should be thankful that he is pooping at all. I hear rice cereal can be binding, but so far so signs of constipation. We're only feeding him a tablespoon of cereal once or twice a day right now. So, maybe the problems start when the amount increases. Yikes!Comments:Add a comment:

It's over 5 months since I gave birth to Noah, and my wedding ring is still so tight! I got so swollen during pregnancy, that I bought a substitute ring, too. I felt naked when I don't wear one. I don't know how much weight I still have to lose, but my wedding ring is still too small. Sometimes I still can't put it on. And when I do manage to squeeze it on, it's only with soap! I even got calluses on my finger from taking it on and off every day! CALLUSES!
I heard we should wait 6 months after giving birth or after you're finished exclusively breast feeding. My milk is slowly dwindling (even after eating oatmeal, drinking lots of water and taking Fenugreek, Blessed Thistle and Mother's Milk), so I'll wait another month before getting my ring enlarged.

Noah was sooo funny today! I put him in his Leap Frog activity center, and he was playing well with all the different noise makers. After a while, I didn't hear any sounds, so I looked around the corner to where he was...he was bent over with his face down on the piano keys! He had fallen asleep!! HAHAHA!!! It was too cute! I raced to get my camera to take a picture before he woke up. I'll have to post it soon...too freakin' hysterical!!!

The last couple night's we've found Noah has scooted out from under his blanket and pushed himself up to the top of his crib. Last night, his whole body was completely turned sideways, so he was parallel to the short side of the crib. It's totally funny to see, but he woke up in the middle of the night crying - probably because he was cold and/or uncomfortable because his head was wedged against the corner of the crib. Stopping short of leashing his legs to the bottom crib rails, we need to get a crib bumper and start using his sleep sack. With the sack, at least he'll be warm if he manages to wiggle his way out from under the blankets, but hopefully the sack will make his kicks less effective, too. I guess I should be glad he hasn't rolled over yet - that would be double trouble! ;)

Noah has been grasping both hands together for a couple weeks now. I read it's a good sign that he'll be somewhat coordinated - yay! But he's still not rolling over yet. He can turn the top half of his body to the side, but he can't quite get the bottom half to follow - there is LOTS to roll over!

Yikes, there's stuff coming out of Noah's nose every time he sneezes! Plus, he's congested, so it's hard for him to nurse. I've had to use that bulb syringe to suction out all of that. He hates it. He keeps turning his head and cries the whole time. I know it's gotta be uncomfortable, but I hate hearing him breathe through his mouth. He's been snoring a lot more, too, because of it. It sounds cute, but so sad that he's sick. He's been waking up in the middle of the night again, and I've been nursing hoping to make him feel better and for some comfort, too. It's fun having him sleep next to me when Chad is working. I like waking up and seeing his cute little face right there.
