Noah is getting so strong! As I fed him this morning, he would hardly keep still for me to burp him. He kept pushing up on his feet and straightening his legs. I won't be surprised if he skips crawling and goes straight to walking. He already holds his head up really well, too. He's growing up so fast. He's not my tiny, little newborn any more. It's kinda sad. But he gets cuter and cuter every day!

HOORAY! It's finally over! Chad finished the third and final part of his Captain's Test this morning and he feels GREAT about it! Now we wait for the results. Chad thinks the list won't come out for a whole week! ARGH! We're both so not the patient type. Thank you to all for your prayers. Chad definitely feels a sense of relief now and can't wait to get back to living life and NOT studying anymore - hopefully not for another 10 years when he says he hopes to become Chief! He came by my office and we celebrated with a big frappuccino from Starbucks. He can't wait to start working around the house again and we made plans for little getaway to LaJolla to visit family and go to Sea World. It will be Noah's first visit there. Hmmm, I wonder if we should plan to take Noah to Disneyland before then. As much as I know he will love Sea World, Disneyland's gotta be his first theme park, right?!

It's so nice having my Wednesdays off from work still. With my new "mom" schedule, it's a busy daily work schedule and a busier week. This break after every 2 days of work has definitely made it easier for me to transition back into the work force. I'm enjoying being back at work. At least it feels like I'm actually getting something done! When I'm at home, I feel good if I can get out of my pj's and make the bed! It's so challenging to try and get anything done while at home with the baby. I thought I was the kind of person who would love being a stay-at-home mom. But now I think I like having a balance of work and family.

We finally got the bill for my hospital stay. The grand total was $2990.75 to give birth to Noah and Chad's insurance paid for all of it - 100%! Thank goodness for insurance! Blue Shield rocks!

Back to work for Tina! Six weeks goes by sooo fast with a little one! Both Noah and Gammie did great on their first day with each other. Gammie said Noah was a good boy and didn't put up any fuss. My first day at work was frantic (I didn't have time for lunch and still needed to squeeze in a few pumping sessions for Noah's milk the next day) and the hours flew by. It was so nice to come home and see my cute baby boy. (I felt so guilty earlier in the day when I realized that I forgot to kiss him goodbye!) Time flew by at home, too. I had time for just a quick dinner (cereal) and a shower so I could go straight to bed at 10 pm after feeding Noah. It's gonna take some time to get used to my new schedule, but I wouldn't trade anything for my new especially crazy busy life!

Tina's 6-week post-partum check-up - I'm assuming I'll be cleared with no problem, which means back to work on Monday! Back from the doctor's...everything has healed and is back to normal. I am cleared to work and exercise, etc., etc. Now as far as my "personal" recovery goes: My carpel tunnel syndrome is almost completely gone, thank goodness. I never would've guessed pregnancy would've brought that on. But it was all the swelling that did it. I can finally hold a pen without any pain. My tummy is finally not jiggling with every step I take. That was a WEIRD feeling! I was so surprised at how big I ooked after I had Noah. Seeing me after I gave birth, you would think I was still pregnant - at least 6 months. I didn't like that. The "linea nigra" is still just as dark as it was when I was pregnant. Hopefully, with more time, it will go away completely. I'm still about 20 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. Nursing has helped sooo much with my weight loss so far, but I still can't fit into my regular pre-pregnancy clothes yet. Good news is that it seems that most of my shoes still fit! My feet didn't get bigger after all. It was just a lot of swelling toward the end that made my feet larger than normal. There were many times when it hurt just to stand up. I could only fit into flip flops the last few weeks of work. WOO HOO! I won't have to buy new, bigger shoes. That would've sucked. OH! And the swelling in my fingers have gone down, so I CAN FINALLY WEAR MY WEDDING RING AGAIN!!! :D It's tight, but at least I can squeeze it on and off with the help of a little soap.

Noah did it! He went 5 hours between feedings - HOORAY! That was a good night after discovering my first plugged milk duct. It was a little painful, but luckily went away after a hot shower, a warm compress and a good breast pumping session.

Hooray! Noah didn't wake up for almost 5 hours today! That, according to most books, is "sleeping through the night"! Hopefully, he'll continue to stretch out his time between feedings. Mom's gotta go back to work soon, so that would help out so much. He had completely escaped from his swaddle, too. Unbelievable how good he is at that. He's our little "Houdini".

Noah's 1-month dr's appt. Do the vaccinations really start that early?? Oh no, my poor baby. Just got back from the pediatrician's...Noah didn't get any shots today. But at his 2-month appt in 30 days, he get FOUR of them! Noah's gained another pound and grew another 1-1/2 inches. The doctor says Noah's doing great.

Noah is 1 month old today! He's already grown so much. We love the little noises, heavy breathing & grunts he makes when he's nursing and the cute wimpers & squeaks he makes when he's dreaming. I like calling him "Squeakers". We worry when he chokes, gags & spits up, and wish we could make his hiccups go away (they're so annoying). He's got the cutest sneezes ever! We also call him "My little Snorter" 'cause he snorts all the time. We love how he stretches & squirms when we wake him up from a nap to eat. (He does a great Superman impression when he stretches.) He's got the cutest little face, especially when he's alert and looking around with his big dark brown eyes. He's so funny when he's so sleepy that he can hardly keep his eyes open, especially after eating and he's "milk drunk". He's so relaxed sometimes that he just hangs there with his arms limp - with his mittens on, I think he looks like a lobster with big claws. When we're burping him, he holds his head up so well. Most of his lanugo is gone. He was so hairy when he was born! He's getting much better at going to sleep on his own when we put him down for a nap, not to much crying anymore. He looks so different when his eyes are closed vs. when he's awake and alert. He really is a good baby and doesn't cry much except when he's hungry (which is like clockwork most of the time - pretty much every 3 hours) or has a dirty diaper or is too cold or wants our attention. His belly button is completely healed and looks healthy - it's an "in-ie". His circumcision has completely healed, too, and he's "got a pretty good-looking weiner!" as daddy puts it. His feet are so soft and he's kinda ticklish there and under his arms. He loves getting his head caressed and shampoo'ed, but he doesn't really like taking baths. For the record, Noah has pee'd on Daddy (during a diaper change) & Mama (during a bath) and he ALMOST poo'ed on Mom! Thankfully, I was still cleaning him up from a dirty diaper and had a wipe ready to block it! Wow, that's just Month #1. We're so excited to learn and discover everything about our son in the months and years to come. We know we're biased, but Noah is the cutest thing we've ever seen! We love you, Noah!

Chad enters the Pacific Coast Triathlon in Newport Beach again. This year, he'll be with his "crew" from high school. Noah and I will be there to cheer them on! Go, boys! (If you want to see, check our the photos on this site.)

Noah visited his dad for the first time at the Fire Station today. It will be the first of many visits to daddy's fire station for sure. We took some cute pictures in front of daddy's truck and showed Noah off to daddy's crew. (Check out the pix under "Photos".) Afterwards, we went to mommy's work and showed Noah off there, too. Noah was awake for the entire visit (thanks to Mama for waking him up!), so everyone got to see him being alert and looking around, instead of just sleeping. It was great seeing everyone! It was my first time having to deal with the stroller on my own. I figured how to work it without too much trouble. I'm sure I'll be an expert before too long. I forgot Noah's diaper bag in the car though. So much to remember to bring for this little one!

Noah did great on his first sleepover at Mama & Papa's. Mama said he finished all his bottles really fast and didn't fuss at all. Good job, Noah!

Noah is spending the night at Mama & Papa's tonight. For the first time, Mommy & Daddy get a night to themselves, with uninterrupted sleep! Hopefully, Noah won't keep Mama & Papa up too long tonight, so they will want to babysit Noah overnight again. Noah was dropped off this afternoon, so Mommy could go to her friend Jeanette's baby shower. It was Mommy's first time driving her son anywhere. Talk about defensive driving. I've never been so careful in my life. Earlier this morning, we 3 went shopping at Target and Ralphs. Daddy pushed Noah in his stroller and I pushed the shopping cart into Target. Then we noticed that other parents had their little ones in their car seat on top of the shopping cart, so we tried that we when we went to Ralphs. That makes things much easier for one person since, more than likely, it will just be one of us with Noah in tow, without a helper to push the stroller or cart. As new parents, we learn something new every day!
