Noah is 3 weeks old today! It's hard to believe that time has already passed. Time flies when you're having fun, AND when you're not sleeping! ;) Noah is nursing well. He's been pretty much on a 3 hour feeding schedule, but sometimes we wakes up a litte earlier, and sometimes we have to wake him up to eat. Over the last 21 days, he's got some good impressions down, too. The first one is a pirate - he loves looking around with just one eye open. The second one is Houdini. No matter how snuggly we swaddle him, he manages to wiggle one hand out. Some times he even manages to get both arms out and the blanket it down to his waist. He's our very own escape artist. I like to call him my little wiggle worm. Noah also does a great Derek Zoolander "look". I've gotta get a picture of him doing that. It's too funny!

Noah's first real bath. His umbilical stump fell off on 8/20 and we waited until most of the small pieces still in his belly button had come out, too. He didn't love his first bath. He cried a little and squirmed around a bit. I think he was cold 'cause he was silent after we bundled him up in a towel. Actually, Chad & I laughed 'cause after we dressed Noah, he laid motionless and kept looking around with just his eyes, like he was stunned about what he just experienced. Poor little guy!

Mama, Papa and Julia came over to spend the day with Noah. Daddy told his son Noah that he would give him $100 if Mama didn't take any pictures of him during their visit. Needless to say, Noah didn't win any money from Daddy that day.

Chad took Noah & I for our first date night out together as a family. Noah got his first bottle feeding just before we left. Chad fed him breast milk and Noah drank about 3 oz of it with no problem taking it from a bottle. He's such a good baby! After that big meal, Noah fell fast asleep, and Chad & I got to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner at Daphne's. Love their shrimp pita! There was a classic rock band playing outside while we ate, too. They were really good, even though I don't consider myself a classic rock girl. Chad liked them, too, and dropped a tip in their tip bowl. After dinner, Chad took us off-roading and found a secluded area in the Trabuco Canyon woods where we watched a "drive-in" movie on the DVD player from the back seat. The crickets were loud out there and sounded exactly like Noah's sound machine that we use to help him sleep at night. With Noah still fast asleep in his car seat between us, there was no making out for Chad & I during this drive-in movie. So, we were good and just watched "Babe" and ate popcorn. It was a fun date with our son!

Chad stayed home with Noah, and I got to get out of the house for an hour or so to go shopping. It was kinda strange driving for the first time since having the baby. Babies R Us and Ralphs has never been so fun. ;)

Chad planted a tree in our backyard in honor of Noah's birth. We picked a Peppermint Willow Tree - a pretty canopy tree which grows about 6 feet/year. We hope to watch it flourish just as our son will over the years. In time, we hope it will also grow large enough to camouflage much of the water tower just beyond our backyard. (If you want to see, check our the video and photos on this site.)

Noah's umbilical stump fell off! Good thing, too, 'cause it was starting to smell pretty bad. No, we didn't save it for his scrapbook!

Our first hiking day. We walked to the park down the street from our house with Noah secure in Dad's harness. By the time we got down the block, Noah was already fast asleep. (If you want to see, check our the video and photos on this site.)

Noah's first sponge bath. I think he really enjoyed it 'cause he didn't fuss a bit! (If you want to see, check our the video and photos on this site.)

Noah's first doctor's appointment. He did great! He's up to 8 lbs, 2 oz (after being down to 7 lbs, 11 oz 3 days prior) and grew 2 inches!

We got to drive Noah home from the hospital today. He had a tough morning. He had his heel pricked for a bunch of newborn screening tests, PLUS a circumcision.

Eight hours later, my contractions were still not regular or strong enough. So, at 2 am, I was given Pitocin to get things going. Boy, did that work! By 9 am, I was 7 cm dilated and was more than ready for my epidural!

Even though my water broke, I still wasn't going into labor. So, I was given prostaglandin to induce me.

My water broke on my way home from shopping Trader Joe's. I was shopping for our picnic dinner that night. Chad & I had planned to take pregnancy pictures at Laguna Beach and then stay at the beach to have dinner and watch the sunset. Well, those plans changed! I got home, put the food in the fridge (minus a few things for Chad to snack on), called my OB and then cancelled the photo session with the photographer. Chad got home from studying at the library about 3:45 pm and we drove to Labor & Delivery to have our baby!

My last day of work! Sandy & Shelley hosted a baby shower for me. Chad was able to come and meet everyone, too. I'm so fortunate to have so many good friends to work with.
